In a landmark move to safeguard the historical legacy of Spanish migration to the Dominican Republic, key institutions from both nations have forged a collaborative agreement. The initiative aims to document, preserve, and disseminate the stories and contributions of Spanish migrants and their descendants in the Dominican Republic.
The agreement brings together the General Archives of the Nation (AGN) of the Dominican Republic, the Spanish Embassy, and the Dominican-Spanish Cultural Institute. These entities will pool resources and expertise to identify, catalog, and digitize historical documents, photographs, and testimonies related to Spanish migration.
The project seeks to shed light on the diverse experiences of Spanish migrants who arrived in the Dominican Republic, highlighting their impact on the country’s social, economic, and cultural fabric. By preserving this shared history, the initiative aims to strengthen ties between the two nations and foster a deeper understanding of their intertwined past.
