
Mexico, Canada and the Dominican Republic are still competing for the missing two slots to play in the AmeriCup 2025. As of Monday, 24 February the standings in Group C are: Canada has 4 wins and 1 loss, the DR has 3 wins and two losses and Mexico has 3 wins and two losses.
The Dominican Republic plays Nicaragua at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center Volleyball Pavilion on Monday, 24 February to clinch a slot for the AmeriCup qualifier.
The slot, nevertheless, is likely to be decided by the Monday, 24 February 2025 game of Mexico vs Canada. If Canada wins the game, then the DR is in.
If Mexico beats Canada, it must do so by 17 points or more to gain the slot over the DR.
The DR moved ahead by defeating Canada when the two teams played in Santo Domingo on Friday, 21 February 2025 at the JPD Olympic Center Volleyball Pavilion. The game ended 74-65 to the delight of the fans. The Dominican Republic led during 38:02 of the 40 minutes of the game thanks to their near-flawless execution. Andres Feliz (18 points), Jean Montero and Jassel Perez were the stars of the evening.
Canada will play Mexico in San Luis de Potosi, in Mexico. Canada can qualify depending on the outcome of Nicaragua’s remaining games, or on point differential.
Team Nicaragua has lost all its games in the Group C AmeriCup Qualifier window. Despite the results of the final game against the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua has a slot guaranteed in the FIBA AmeriCup 2025 as host of the event. The 2025 AmeriCup will be played 23-31 August in Managua, Nicaragua.
