
In the Dominican Republic, 686 children (329 boys and 304 girls) have been adopted in the last five years, as reported in N Digital. This is according to a report from the National Council for Children and Adolescents (Conani). The report says that 553 children were adopted by Dominicans and 87 by foreign parents.
Over the past five years, 2020, a Covid-19 pandemic year, was the year of less adoptions, with 102. The number of adoptions in 2021 would then be 187, making up for those not adopted in 2020. In 2022 there were 132 adoptions and in 2023, some 125. The number for 2024 was 138.
