
Vice President Raquel Peña congratulated Dominican actress Zoe Saldaña for becoming the first Dominican to win an Oscar. Vice President Peña corroborated that Saldaña has made all Dominicans proud.
Saldaña won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Emilia Perez. The song she sings and dances to in the film, “El Mal” also won the best original score.
Saldaña is only the third Latin American actress to win in this category, joining Rita Moreno (1962) and Ariana DeBose (2022), two Puerto Ricans who performed in versions of the West Side Story.
As the world celebrates Zoe Saldaña winning an Oscar, more stories are coming forth on the outstanding life of the artist.
