Eurostars expands to the Dominican Republic with branding of legendary Samaná hotel

The Hotusa Group Spanish hotel chain is expanding into the Dominican Republic with the re-opening of a legendary hotel as a five-star Eurostars branded hotel set for the final quarter of this 2025. The company will operate the Samana resort, named Eurostars Grand Cayacoa, under a lease agreement, as stated in a recent communication.

Hotusa markets its Eurostars brand as a collection of exceptional hotels, inspired by values that are closely linked to the world of art and culture. Luxury and sophisticated facilities and excellent attention to detail are promised to guests.

With this addition, the chain further expands its international presence, entering a new country and solidifying its commitment to the Caribbean region, where it already operates 12 hotels.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa 5*, situated on the southern side of the Bay of Samana will feature 295 rooms, two pools integrated into a natural setting, a state-of-the-art spa, an extensive culinary offering, and private beach access.

The hotel previously had been operated by the Bahia Principe hotel chain (Grupo Piñero), with Piñero properties now operated by Hyatt after an agreement that sold 50% of the company to the US chain.

Amancio López, president of the Hotusa Group, highlighted that “entering the Dominican Republic is a critical milestone in our company’s expansion strategy. It not only allows us to tap into one of the Caribbean’s most significant tourism markets but also strengthens our dedication to the high-end vacation segment.”

With over 47 years of history, the Hotusa Group operates in more than 130 countries, employs over 6,000 people, and reported revenues exceeding €1.5 billion in 2024.
