Emma Polanco Melo is most prominent in list of candidates for Chamber of Accounts

Emma Polanco Melo, former rector of the UASD, who had won that position with the strong backing of the backing of the PRM party, is the most known of the candidates in three groups of five chosen by the Chamber of Deputies for the five seats of the Chamber of Accounts. Several of the candidates heed from the current dysfunctional Chamber of Accounts or have ties to the Chamber of Deputies itself and others are relatively unknown.

The Chamber of Deputies, under the same presidency of Alfredo Pacheco (National District -PRM) had led the procedures to select the past members of the Chamber of Accounts, a mélange so conflictive that the important entity was never able to accomplish its role of ensuring government accountability.

The PRM-majority Chamber of Deputies has sent the three groups of five candidates for the PRM-majority Senate to choose the five members of the Chamber of Accounts.

For multiple decades and across several governments, the Chamber of Accounts has been a politicized and expensive government department with little results to show in efficient government spending auditing.
