The National District Prosecutor’s Office has requested preventive custody for two Colombian men and two Colombian women accused of committing robberies in the Naco and Los Praditos neighborhoods of Santo Domingo, Diario Libre reports.
The accused, identified as María Fernanda Jurado Martínez, Laura Valentina Mosquea Hernández, Nicolás Giraldo Murillo, and Joseph Stiven Rodríguez Pérez, allegedly used an unidentified substance to render their victims unconscious before stealing cash, valuables, and personal documents, according to the request for coercive measures presented by prosecutor Johnny Arroyo.
The alleged victims include four men: Ernest Miguel Soto Luna, Eloy Núñez Peña, Augusto César Cabral, and Anderson de la Cruz on two separate occasions.
The Public Ministry’s request for coercive measures details the two separate incidents. The first occurred on 24 March 2025, at the Mineri XVIII Tower in Ensanche Naco. Jurado Martínez and Mosquea Hernández reportedly met Soto Luna and Núñez Peña through the dating app Tinder.
During a subsequent encounter at an apartment, the victims were allegedly drugged. Upon regaining consciousness two days later in a clinic, they discovered that high-end watches, cell phones, cash, and bank cards had been stolen. The bank cards had also been used to make fraudulent transactions.
The second incident took place in the early hours of 22 March 2025, at the Laura Michelle XXXIV Tower in Los Praditos. Giraldo Murillo and Rodríguez Pérez allegedly drugged Cabral and De la Cruz after meeting them at a bar in the Colonial City. The victims were then robbed of electronic devices, jewelry, and cash. Their bank cards were also used to make substantial unauthorized purchases.
Security camera footage reportedly showed the accused transporting the unconscious victims and later leaving the scene with their belongings.
The four suspects were arrested on 29 March 2025, under orders from the National District’s Office of Judicial Services for Permanent Attention.
The Public Ministry has charged them with criminal association and aggravated robbery, in violation of Articles 265, 266, 379, and 317, paragraph 2 of the Dominican Penal Code. They have requested preventative detention, citing flight risk and the possibility of recidivism.
The hearing to review the request for coercive measures has been scheduled for Thursday, 3 April 2025, at the request of the defendants’ legal counsel.
