Indotel honors René del Risco Bermúdez by renaming cultural center building

The Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel) has renamed its Cultural Center building, located on Isabel la Católica Street in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, as the “René del Risco Bermúdez Building.” A plaque bearing his name was unveiled with the participation of Del Risco’s offspring, poet and cultural activist Minerva del Risco and corporate executive Rene del Risco.

This act officially implemented Decree No. 10-25, through which President Luis Abinader ordered that the building housing the Indotel Cultural Center be named after René del Risco Bermúdez, to honor the literary and cultural legacy of the prominent Dominican poet, publicist and author.

During the event, Guido Gómez Mazara, president of the Indotel Board of Directors, expressed gratitude for the presence of the Del Risco family and emphasized the importance of preserving and exalting the memory of figures who have enriched Dominican cultural identity.

The event featured the screening of a documentary that reviewed the life and legacy of the honoree, allowing attendees to delve into his career and contributions to Dominican literature.

The event also included readings of poems by renowned poet Mateo Morrison and the legal advisor to the Executive Power, Antoliano Peralta Romero, who shared some of René del Risco Bermúdez’s most emblematic works with the audience.
