
Table grape producer Arismendy Almonte announced the export of the first shipment of grapes to the United States from Montecristi. The first shipment was of 2,000 boxes or 16 tons. President Luis Abinader and Minister of Agriculture Limber Cruz were in Montecristi for the event.
Meanwhile, the exported Timpson variety of green grapes are now for sale at the Supermercados Nacional stores in the Dominican Republic. The Timpson variety is described as sweet, crunchy, seedless, rich in antioxidants, vitamins and fiber. The pound is selling at Supermercados Nacional for RD$229.95, more than other green grapes imported from South America.
The Ministry of Agriculture reported the international company Bloom Fresh introduced here the varieties Allison (red table grapes) and Timpson in farms in Guayubín (Montecristi), Baní (Peravia) and San Juan de la Maguana to expand the business horizons for local farmers and create new employment.
