Warm up tournaments prepare for the PGA Corales Championship

The Dominican Republic is gearing up to host one of the most anticipated events in the golf world, the Corales Puntacana Golf Championship, from 17 to 20 April 2025. The PGA Tour again returns to the scenic and challenging Corales course of the Puntacana Resort & Club, designed by Tom Fazio, with several holes bordering the beach.

The Corales Puntacana Golf Championship will feature 132 players from 20 countries, making it the most important golf tournament held in the Dominican Republic.

The festivities actually kicked off on 15 April with a private Pro-Am event, where professional golfers teamed up with amateur players from the event’s corporate sponsors. This exclusive event sets the tone for the competition, offering a unique opportunity for business leaders and golf enthusiasts to rub shoulders with some of the best players in the world.

The official Pro-Am takes place on Wednesday, 17 April, when the real excitement begins. Professional golfers will share the course with invited guests, including top sponsors and special VIPs. This event not only adds an element of exclusivity but also strengthens the connection between the sport and its corporate partners.

The tournament offers more than a postcard-perfect setting—it’s also a significant event for players vying for important FedEx Cup points. With 300 points on the line for the winner, the Corales Puntacana Championship holds great value for those looking to climb the rankings and make a push toward the season-ending playoffs.

There is also a good cash incentive. Golfers compete for a share of the tournament’s impressive US$4 million purse.

The tournament is so popular, several competitors repeat. Among the better-known players in the 2025 Corales Puntacana Championship are past champions like Chad Ramey (2022), Joel Dahmen (2021), and Brice Garnett (2018).

The Corales Championship is not only known for its competitive nature but also for its history-making moments. In the 2024 edition, Billy Horschel set a new course record with a remarkable performance, finishing the tournament with a score of 265 (-23). This feat added to the allure of the event and demonstrated the high level of play that the Corales course can produce.

The 2025 Corales Puntacana Championship will be airing live on The Golf Channel.
