The Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) political party has requested information from the Central Electoral Board (JCE) regarding the three companies participating in the tender for the renewal of the country’s national identity card project. The FP says they seek the information to ensure transparency and clarity in this crucial process for strengthening democracy.

In a document submitted by FP’s political delegate, Manuel Crespo, through the political party’s secretariat general, the political party requests the names of the physical partners comprising the three consortia: EMDOC, consisting of IqtekSolutions, GSI International Inc., VeridosMhb, Muhlbauer, and Ultra Tech; ID SecureIDSi, made up of Toppan Security (formerly HID Global CID SAS), Midas Dominicana, Litho Formas, Ixla, and Magallanes Media; and Cédula 4.0 FZCO, including CopySolutions International CSI, GetGroup, GetGroupLatam, Selp, Get International FZCO, and Global Enterprise TechnologyCorp. The roles of each partner within their respective consortia is also requested.

Additionally, FP seeks to know the ultimate beneficiaries of these companies and their national and international experience in similar projects. Crespo emphasized the importance of this request due to the project’s implications for national security, constitutional rights to identity, and national election processes.

“The JCE, through the commission coordinating the national ID renewal project, should provide this information to recognized political organizations and the general public to ensure transparency and certainty in the process,” Crespo stated.

FP’s Political Delegate further clarified that this request is part of the opposition party’s efforts, led by former President Leonel Fernández, to enhance transparency and strengthen the new ID issuance process, which is vital for democracy, national identity, and the adequacy of civil registration.

The technical commission overseeing the project includes directors from various JCE departments: Cedulation (Américo Rodríguez), Informatics (Johnny Rivera), Civil Registration (Rhina Díaz), Electoral Registration (Luis Mariano Matos), Elections (Mario Núñez), Overseas Voting (Well Sepúlveda), Political Parties (Lenis García), and Communications (Suedi León Jiménez).
