The Dominican Republic may get a US ambassador sooner than later. The last ambassador had been named by Donald Trump at the start of his first presidency. For his second presidency, President Trump promptly named his choice for ambassador to the Dominican Republic.
The Foreign Relations Committee of the United States Senate now announces that the nominations hearing for Leah Campos to be ambassador to the Dominican Republic will be on Thursday, 1 May 2025 at 10:30am. It will take place at the Dirksen Senate Office Building, SD-419 A livestream of this event will be available here.
During the previous Biden administration, two candidates sat for Senate nomination hearings, but none would eventually be sent to represent the United States government.
