President Luis Abinader was in Punta Cana on Friday, 9 May 2025 for the inauguration of the St. Regis Cap Cana Resort & Residences, a US$220 million Mariott International-operated project located at the Cap Cana residential and hotel community at the southern end of the beach destination.
Situated on one of Cap Cana’s beaches and overlooking the renowned Jack Nicklaus-designed Punta Espada golf course, the resort features 200 deluxe rooms and 70 private residences.
The project was funded entirely by Dominican capital coordinated by Pioneer Investment Funds, executed and built by Campagna Ricart & Asociados, a leading architectural and engineering firm.
Tourism Minister Callado said at the opening that the new luxury hotel aligns with the country’s strategy to diversify its hospitality offerings: “This remarkable hotel underscores our commitment in the Dominican Republic to luxury tourism. It is a clear demonstration of our diverse tourist attractions.”
The St. Regis Cap Cana marks the first hotel of this iconic brand in the Dominican Republic and Hispanic Caribbean.
Yamil Isaías, executive vice president of Pioneer, expressed pride in leading an investment that sets a new standard for Dominican tourism. “This project exemplifies how the stock market can be a genuine driver of national economic development, with tangible and sustainable outcomes,” he said. “The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort is a powerful testament to Dominican talent and capital’s ability to lead world-class developments.”
Dino Campagna, President of Campagna Ricart & Asociados, noted that the resort embodies their vision, dedication, and capabilities. “Every detail of the St. Regis Cap Cana has been meticulously designed to offer an unparalleled experience in harmony with its natural surroundings,” he added.
Renowned local and international firms prioritized landscape integration and environmental respect in the architectural and interior design, establishing the resort as a model of sustainability, sophistication, and hospitality.
The operation taps into Marriott International’s loyalty club with over 228 million members.
