The XXII Ibero-American Judicial Summit is taking place in the DR

With the participation of 23 member countries and under the motto “Justice on Time to Guarantee the Dignity of People,” the XXII Ibero-American Judicial Summit is taking place from Wednesday, 14 May through Friday, 16 May 2025 at the Eduardo Brito National Theater in Santo Domingo.

The gathering brings together legal experts from Latin America, Spain and Portugal. The objective is to strengthen judicial ties between member countries and generate common strategies for a more modern, accessible, and humane justice system.

President Luis Abinader will officially declare the summit open. Accompanying him will be Henry Molina, president of the Supreme Court of Justice and temporary secretary of the summit; Elena Martínez Rosso, minister of the Supreme Court of Uruguay and permanent secretary of the CJI; and Andrés Allamand, Ibero-American Secretary General.

The key themes of the conference are digital justice, ethics and transparency. The agenda includes debates on the challenges and advancements within Ibero-American judicial systems, focusing on:
• Reducing judicial backlogs
• Transparency and access to justice
• Judicial ethics
• Artificial Intelligence and technology in courts
• Plain language in court rulings
• Judicial pedagogy and the future of justice

The XXII Ibero-American Judicial Summit will bring together representatives from the following 23 member countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic,
Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Additionally, the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) and other relevant international organizations are also expected to participate.
