
The heavy rains that have been falling, as troughs make their way through the Caribbean, have caused billions in damages to homes, agriculture and infrastructure in the Dominican Republic. And this is all before the start of the hurricane season.
The director of the Dominican Weather Institute (Indomet), Gloria Ceballos calls for preparation as she expects this to be a year of intense hurricanes. The Atlantic season hurricane season opens in June.
