Cocaine disguised in plastic resin squash

The creativity of drug traffickers continues to impress, yet the local authorities are getting better at catching unusual exports. The National Drug Control Agency recently reported the seizing of 334 packages with suspected cocaine disguised in a shipment of plastic resin squash exports.

The DNCD reports it continues to increase its capturing of shipments in the border provinces with Haiti. Pedernales and Dajabon are the two main entry points from Haiti, with most cocaine known to enter by sea.

7 Dias reports that Dominican authorities have dealt a significant blow to cross-border drug trafficking, seizing over 6,224 packages of narcotics in three major operations within a mere 72-hour span. The busts, concentrated in the southwestern province of Pedernales and the northwestern region of Dajabón, underscore an intensified effort to combat the flow of illegal drugs into the country.

So far this year, the local authorities have seized 23 tons of drugs.
