Hot noon temperatures are expected due to warm easterly/southeasterly winds and light Saharan dust particles for most of the Dominican Republic. The forecast for Thursday, 22 May 2025 includes some scattered showers but mostly the country will be under the impact of Saharan dust.
The Dominican Weather Institute, Indomet says that the combination of a light layer of Saharan dust and an anticyclonic system will result in hazy skies, hot temperatures, and minimal rainfall across most of the Dominican Republic. However, isolated showers are possible as early as morning in provinces such as La Altagracia, La Romana in the East, to Barahona and Pedernales in the Southwest.
During the afternoon and into the evening, expect scattered clouds with localized downpours and isolated thunderstorms in areas including El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Azua, La Vega, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, San Juan, Elías Piña, Independencia and Santo Domingo Norte.
Temperatures will be hot due to warm easterly/southeasterly winds and the presence of Saharan dust. Authorities urge residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure without protection, seek shady and well-ventilated areas, and wear light-colored, breathable clothing.
Highs will range between 88°F and 91°F (31°C – 33°C), while lows will be between 70°F and 72°F (21°C – 23°C).
The sunny outlook will continue on Friday, 23 May 2025. Indomet says that the high pressure will continue to dominate the Caribbean region, bringing mostly hot temperatures and minimal rainfall chances across most of the Dominican Republic, conditions that are ideal for outdoor activities.
Indomet does report there can be localized showers with a low chance of thunderstorms are possible in areas like Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Azua, La Vega, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, San Juan, Independencia, and Elías Piña due to local effects and moisture transported by the wind. These showers will likely diminish during the night, although isolated downpours cannot be ruled out along the Caribbean coast, including the Greater Santo Domingo area.
