Listín Diario reports it was able to successfully transfer its domain, listindiario.com, to a new provider without any disruption in service. The move comes after the newspaper received a warning from its previous domain host, Network Solutions, requesting the removal of an article for allegedly violating their terms of use.
The article titled “Lisandro Macarrulla Jr. Admits to Charges by the Public Ministry in Medusa Case,” was published on 22 March 2024. It detailed Lisandro José Macarrulla Martínez’s admission of guilt before Judge Amauri Martínez in a case of administrative corruption. Macarrulla Martínez confessed to paying bribes for the construction of a module at Las Parras prison and explained the irregular negotiation process.
Listín Diario expressed gratitude for the support received from various sectors of society. In its editorial on Monday, 26 May 2025, the newspaper highlighted the importance of resisting such threats to prevent setting a dangerous precedent that could lead to the arbitrary erasure of journalistic memory.
“Imposing conditions on already published information is unacceptable and constitutes an inadmissible attempt at censorship,” the newspaper stated in response to the warning on 15 May. “Truthful news of public relevance, properly sourced, is not subject to arbitrary rectification or removal.”
Listín Diario thanks the Dominican society for their unity in defending press freedom, a fundamental pillar of democracy. “As always, Listín Diario remains firm and vigilant against any attempt at intimidation, silencing, or manipulation of the truth,” the newspaper asserts in its editorial.
