Over 4,000 youths graduate from the 14-24 Program

Vice President Raquel Peña and the coordinator of the Social Policy Cabinet, Tony Peña, led the VIII Ordinary Graduation of the “Oportunidad 14-24” program on Thursday, 22 May 2025 at the Carlos (Teo) Cruz Boxing Coliseum in the capital city. 4,074 young people completed their training in various technical and vocational fields.

The program is aimed at providing young persons with the training in practical areas that allows for a rapid insertion into the labor force.

During the ceremony, Vice President Raquel Peña underscored the significance of this program in strengthening human capital. She pledged ongoing support for the initiative, emphasizing its role in the economic and social development of the Dominican Republic.

Tony Peña, coordinator of the Social Policy Cabinet, stressed that the program has successfully reduced social inequality in the country. Additionally, Alex Mordan, director of the Oportunidad 14-24 program, highlighted the tools provided by the initiative to help young people who were previously neither studying nor working become productive members of society, benefiting themselves, their families, and the community at large.

This eighth ordinary graduation included participants from the Greater Santo Domingo area, the National District, San Cristóbal, Peravia, San José de Ocoa, San Pedro de Macoris, Hato Mayor, el Seibo, La Romana and la Altagracia were all represented on the podium.

The graduates were trained in skills such as gastronomy, electricity, information technology, sales, beauty salon management, accounting, computer science and more. The program reaches out to those who are 14 to 24 years of age.
