
Presidency Minister José Ignacio Paliza announced on Monday, 26 May 2025 a new preventive patrol plan by the National Police, set to launch on June 2nd in the National District and Santo Domingo province. The new model would next be expanded to the country’s second largest city, Santiago on June 5th. He made the announcement following the weekly Citizen Security Plan meeting at the National Police Officers’ Club,
The minister revealed that the innovative model will involve 1,100 meticulously trained and equipped officers.
He said the pilot system aims to establish intelligent, planned, and permanent patrolling to enhance crime prevention and improve interactions between officers and citizens.
Paliza explained that the new model will be implemented in four prioritized areas, covering 72 previously identified sectors. Each unit will have specific tasks and a daily schedule of patrols, enabling focused and effective surveillance. He also noted that the participating officers have been carefully selected and provided with modern uniforms, body-worn cameras, non-lethal weapons, and other tactical gear to ensure professional responses in any situation.
The minister assured that the plan is scalable and can be replicated across the country based on individual region’s security needs. He added that this initiative seeks to further solidify advancements in citizen security and continue reducing crime rates nationwide.
