Football players of the future come for Punta Cana’s first MICFootball championship

Sports tourism consolidates further in the Dominican Republic with the celebration of the MIC Football in Punta Cana, on the country’s eastern coast.

For 25 years, the organizers of MIC Football have congregated young soccer players in Costa Brava, Spain. For the first time, the tournament is held outside of Spain and at the Cap Cana Sports City and soccer venue, The Fields with natural grass. The event will take place 24 to 29 June 2025 in the south Punta Cana residential and touristic and sports tourism area of Cap Cana.

The youth soccer world tournament brings together teams from five continents for a global competition among the best talents in emerging football players. More than 2,000 players and 1,000 family and friends are booked to come from 20 countries for the event.

MICFootball will celebrate its first edition in the Dominican Republic with the support of Malta Morena and Pepsi, brands of the Dominican National Brewery to promote Dominican youth football.

MIC, which has 25 years of history, is one of the most important platforms for developing grassroots football worldwide. Known as the “World Cup of Grassroots Football,” this tournament is held annually on the Costa Brava, Spain, featuring the best teams of young people between 10 and 19 years old. Players such as Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., Philippe Coutinho, and Cesc Fábregas have participated over the years, leaving their mark on this competition on their path to becoming soccer stars.

David Bellver, CEO of MICFootball, expressed his enthusiasm for the tournament’s arrival in the country, “We are thrilled to bring the MIC to Punta Cana. This country has an incredible passion for football, and we are confident that this edition will be unforgettable.”

The winners and finalists of this year’s Malta Morena Cup will be guaranteed a spot at MIC Football Punta Cana 2025, giving the young players an opportunity to compete against elite teams and take their first steps toward a professional career.

The event marks a major milestone in sports tourism and international visibility for the country.

The expansion of MICFootball from its traditional base in Spain to the Americas was announced by MIC president David Bellver and Dominican Tourism Minister David Collado, with support from key partners including Banco de Reservas, Asonahores, and Cap Cana. Bellver emphasized that this move preserves MIC’s mission: “to build a bridge between passion, training, and opportunity” for future football stars. Collado highlighted the tournament’s significance as “a platform for youth development, tourism promotion, and global positioning of the Dominican Republic.”

The 2025 edition will feature youth teams from top-tier clubs like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Olympique de Marseille, Bayer Leverkusen, Inter Miami, LA Galaxy, River Plate, Club América, and Santos FC. All matches will be streamed live and on demand via MICFootball TV, ensuring international exposure.

Known for launching football legends such as Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., and Gavi, MICFootball has a legacy of excellence. With the Dominican Republic now part of its journey, the tournament brings not only high-level competition but also a long-term opportunity to promote the nation as a hub for global youth football.
