The legendary Buena Vista Orchestra, hailed as the “soul of Cuban son,” is booked for a performance at the Teatro La Fiesta at Hotel Jaragua in Santo Domingo on Saturday, 19 July 2025.
Noticias SIN reports that the orchestra, under the direction of the iconic Jesús “Aguaje” Ramos—a trombonist, composer, and pivotal figure in the original Buena Vista Social Club—arrives with a fresh yet authentic sound that stays true to the essence that has captivated the world.
Performing in Santo Domingo will be many of the musicians who have been fundamental to the original legacy, including “Betún” Luis Mariano Valiente Marín on percussion, Emilio Senón Morales Ruiz on piano, and Fabián García on bass. They will perform the timeless songs that have resonated with generations.
With over 50,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, the Buena Vista Orchestra continues to charm new audiences. Their latest album, Greatest Recorded Performances (Live), released in February 2025 and available on all digital platforms under the SSK Records label, was recorded during their 2024 US tour.
Jesús “Aguaje” Ramos, whose remarkable story was immortalized in the acclaimed 1999 documentary Buena Vista Social Club, also served as the musical director for the unforgettable Adiós world tour (2014–2016). This tour reignited international interest in this profound and soulful music.
Adding a special touch to the evening will be Fineta Records, a Dominican collective led by Nassim Dina and Limbano Sánchez. Representing the new wave of Caribbean musical curation, Fineta Records has revitalized the local scene with a fresh approach deeply rooted in Afro-Latin traditions.
Tickets for this must-see event are available through CCN Servicios Uepa Tickets at Supermercados Nacional and Jumbo.
