After the airing of the El Informe con Alicia Ortega that revealed inappropriate conduct and alleged sexual harassment impacting several female gymnasts, the Gymnastics Federation (Fedogim) ordered the Olympic Gymnastics Academy, a private gymnastics school, to suspend coach Julio Angeles. Angeles also served on the Gymnastics Federation executive committee.
OGA is the private academy of Yamilet Peña, the highest ranked Dominican gymnast. Peña by then had already removed Angeles from the gymn, as reported in Diario Libre. She said she is collaborating with the authorities.
In the El Informe con Alicia Ortega, a mother denounced what she knew of the irregular proceedings by the coach. Her daughter was a long time member of the gym and since 2020 had been on scholarship. The mother presented a complaint for sexual harassment to the Unit of Attention to Gender, Sexual and Intrafamily Violence of the Santo Domingo province.
