President Luis Abinader announced the plan is for the Los Alcarrizos Metro (Line 2C of the Santo Domingo Metro) to be in operation as of February 2026. He said the trial run of the metro line will happen in September 2025.
Speaking during the Monday, 2 June 2025 press conference, and responding to a journalist questioning the delays in the completion of the line, he referred journalists for more explanations to the Epsa Labco engineering firm that is responsible for the supervision of the metro line. Alstom of France and Spain is supplying the metro cars.
The Metro line would have been in operation in 2024, but corrections have had to be made to enable its completion.
