Interior and Police Minister Faride Raful declared the Dominican Republic is the safest country in the Caribbean and ranks among the top ten safest nations in Latin America according to citizen security indicators, when speaking on occasion of the formal start of a new Police patrol model.
Raful made the remarks emphasizing the nation’s commitment to maintaining its low crime rates through “humility, vocation, and unwavering dedication,” alongside robust training for new officers.
“Citizen security indicators consistently place the Dominican Republic as the safest country in the Caribbean and among the top ten safest in Latin America. We are committed to continuing this positive trajectory, focusing especially on the training and oversight of all personnel involved in public safety,” stated Minister Raful.
As part of the new patrol strategy, the National Police will establish a supervision and control center to monitor patrolled areas under a newly implemented sector-based patrol system launching today in Santo Domingo and Santiago. This real-time monitoring aims to facilitate quicker and more effective responses to any incidents.
According to police spokesperson Diego Pesqueira, the primary objectives of the plan are to strengthen citizen security and foster stronger ties between communities and law enforcement officers.
