The Reinas del Caribe, the Dominican Republic’s senior women’s volleyball team, has traveled to Canada to participate in the Women’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL) first stage games.
The event is taking place 4 to 8 June 2025 at the TD Place in Canada’s capital city, Ottawa.
The DR is competing against host Canada, Japan, the Netherlands, Serbia, and Bulgaria.
The DR’s first game will be against Serbia at 4pm on 4 June.
Diario Libre reports that Marcos Kwiek, the Brazilian longtime coach of the senior volleyball team, will be giving emerging players a chance to show their talents in the leading global tournament. He said the team hopes to improve its ranking, now at 11th, behind Serbia.
The best ranking ever by the Dominican senior team was 6th in 2021 when the team defeated Italy in the Nations League tournament.
