Prosecutors seek extension for filing charges in Intrant case

The Public Ministry has requested a four-month extension to formally file charges against the defendants in the Intrant case, who have been held under coercive measures since October 10, 2024.

The prosecution’s request was made on July 2 and will be heard on July 17. In the eight months that Judge Fátima Veloz granted the Public Ministry to file conclusive charges against Hugo Beras, Jochy Gómez, and five others allegedly involved in a network that defrauded the Dominican State through a traffic light project in the National District and Greater Santo Domingo, several investigations have been conducted.

The most notable action taken by prosecutors was a series of raids on Thursday, 5 June 2025 in Punta Cana, La Romana, and the capital city. Among those targeted in the raids, only the journalist Aquiles Jiménez has been identified.
