Ministry of Youth announces Crea RD program to spark entrepreneurship among young people

Acting President Raquel Peña was present for the launch on 11 June 2025 of a new government initiative designed to foster innovation and entrepreneurship among young Dominicans. Vice President Peña is filling in for President Abinader who is abroad.

The Ministry of Youth program seeks to empower them to develop solutions for local challenges.

During the ceremony, the Peña urged young people to seize the opportunities presented by the new program, emphasizing that the program represents a strong commitment to their talent, creativity, and transformative potential.

“This is an investment in you, in your talent and your ability to create value. You are the protagonists of our country’s present and future,” Peña declared in her address, highlighting the government’s faith in the nation’s youth.

The program’s ambitious scope includes ten regional hackathons that will be held across the country, providing practical platforms for collaborative problem-solving and idea generation.

Crea RD builds upon existing government efforts to support youth development, including the RD$1.9 billion allocated to the “Entrepreneurship Laboratory” youth program, which aims to boost entrepreneurship and job placement.
