Arajet adds New Jersey flights

Arajet, the locally-based low cost airline, has begun daily flights between Newark International Airport (EWR) and Santo Domingo’s Las Americas International Airport (SDQ). The flights deliver strong fare competition to the route, with travelers hopeful the days of very expensive fares to the New York area will now be in the past. Other nonstop flights to the NY/NJ area are by Delta, United and JetBlue.

Flight DM 2310, carrying 185 passengers, arrived at 10:30am on Monday, 16 June 2025, with Tourism Minister David Collado; the director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, Igor Rodríguez; and the founder and CEO of Arajet, Víctor Pacheco on board. They raised the flags of the Dominican Republic and New Jersey from the cockpit as a symbol of the opening of this new destination on the aircraft’s network. This makes it the third US destination, along with Miami (MIA) and San Juan (SJU), and the 28th in the entire Americas.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and Arajet celebrated the launch of daily, nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Santo Domingo Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) with an event in New Jersey, also attended by Congressman Adriano Espaillat, Jesús Vázquez, Dominican Consul in New York, José Santana, Dominican Consul in New Jersey, and other government and congressional officials.

This new route promises travelers a direct and affordable connection between the New York metropolitan area and the Caribbean.

Flights began on 16 June with round-trip fares starting at US$262. A search online shows Arajet fares mostly ranging from US$324 to US$542.
