Juana Barcelo steps down as Barrick president

Juana Barcelo has resigned as president of Barrick Pueblo Viejo in the Dominican Republic. She had been in the position since 2018, and had worked in the firm for 25 years. She is the sister in law of the Minister of Mines and Energy, Joel Santos.

The company did not announce her replacement. Instead, it announced that Giselle Valera would be the new executive director for government affairs of Barrick Pueblo Viejo. Valera is a lawyer with 16 years of experience with the law firm Jimenez Peña.
