On Monday, 1 July 2025, Somos Pueblo served as a channel for Colonial City business people to denounce the slow pace of the renovations under the IDB-funded program. The business people complain that already several businesses have had to close because people are staying away because of all the construction going on. The business spokespersons understand the problem is because of the few workers.
Furthermore, Ricardo Ripoll speculated that the problem could be a political rife between Minister of Tourism David Collado and National District Mayor Carolina Mejia, the two leading contenders for the PRM presidential candidacy for 2028.
Eduardo Sánchez Tolentino (El Piro) and Ripoll of Somos Pueblo said they were surprised that after announcing they would be inspecting and filming the delays in the Colonial City, Tourism Minister Collado prepared a presentation on the ongoing renovations in the Colonial City to be a step ahead of his critics. Collado announced the works would be completed in September 2026 and demanded that the contractors up the pace of the works. He also announced pressure would be put on the contractors to deliver.
