Attorney General investigates cases of bribes for government security contracting

The Attorney General Office (PGR) announced Operation Wolf (Operacion Lobo) in which at least 14 arrests were made, including several colonels. A criminal network is accused of paying bribes to secure government contracts and maintain private security services within several state institutions.

The operation, spearheaded by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca) with support from the General Prosecution Agency, involved 15 simultaneous raids across the National District and Santiago province.

A force of 26 prosecutors and 189 National Police agents participated in the coordinated effort, leading to the arrest of 14 individuals allegedly linked to the bribery scheme.

According to authorities, the illicit activities of this organization improperly influenced contracting processes at the National Institute of Comprehensive Care for Early Childhood (Inaipi), the National Health Insurance (Senasa), and the northern, eastern, and southern electricity distribution companies: EdeNorte, EdeEste, and EdeSur.

The investigation was initiated following a complaint filed by the General Ethics and Government Integrity Agency (Digeig), led by Milagros Ortiz Bosch, which was then referred to the Public Ministry for further inquiry.
