In honor of Jose Cestero

Master drawer and painter Jose Cestero passed away on this weekend. He was 88 years old. He had an innate talent for drawing, portraying landscapes, attractions and situations with a different eye. His paintings are in thousands of homes of Dominicans who valued his skill with the brush and colors. He loved bright yellows, but equally painted the greens and the blues of Dominican landscapes and the Colonial City of Santo Domingo. He painted a series dedicated to Quixote. Cestero himself was a Quixote, who lived a free life as an artist.

In 2022, the Museum of Modern Art carried out a retrospective to honor the prolific painter.
