The named Michael Williams, a 38-year-old citizen of the United States, is facing Dominican justice, and thousands of people are hoping for the worst punishment possible under the law. Williams was arrested after witnesses saw him throw a poor dog out of an 11th floor apartment in one of the wealthier sectors of Santo Domingo. Another mistreated animal was found in his apartment.
Arrested under Animal Protection Law 248-12, the individual was placed under a travel ban, forced to put up a RD$200,000 bail bond and is required to report to the judge while his case is heard in court.
