East Santo Domingo slated to get largest mall in the country

City Center by Lady Lee is set to become a landmark development in the Dominican Republic and seeks to claim the title of the largest mall in the Dominican Republic. The ambitious project is a venture planned by the Central American investors part of the Corporación Lady Lee. Corporación Lady Lee began in San Pedro Sula, the second largest city in Honduras.

Construction is planned to start at the end of this year in Santo Domingo Este, the most populous municipality of Greater Santo Domingo, that also includes the National District, the country’s capital city. East Santo Domingo has a population estimated at more than a million inhabitants and is located east of Ozama River.

The foreign investors have noted the concentration of shopping malls in the National District. Right now, Megacentro is the leading shopping mall in East Santo Domingo, and may even be the largest in the country.

Corporación Lady Lee from Central America will develop the new commercial area at the intersection of the Autopista de las Americas and Charles De Gaule Avenue, as reported in Diario Libre. Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of 2025.

Circe Almanzar is the spokesperson for this huge project. She explains it will be an enormous place, with hotels, apartment towers, office towers, and a very large shopping center.

The shopping center will have everything. One might ask: Why there? And Almanzar is quick to answer. East Santo Domingo has a heavily concentrated population and studies show that 80% of its population is employed. The new mall will be the place where these people can spend their hard-earned cash.

With evident attention to the use of solar and wind energy, the City Center will have a major impact on the entire area.

The multi-use complex will feature a large shopping mall, a world-class hotel district, a corporate office hub, and residential towers, positioning it as a dynamic and multifunctional destination for business, leisure, and living.

The promoters say the shopping center will host a diverse mix of national and international retail brands, alongside restaurants, cinemas, a gym, medical facilities, and entertainment zones. It will also dedicate space to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and promote female entrepreneurship.

The hotel district, featuring over 300 rooms, is designed to cater to both tourists and business travelers, delivering upscale accommodation and amenities.

In future phases, the office complex and residential towers will complete the development, which is being built with state-of-the-art infrastructure and a strong focus on sustainability, including energy efficiency, recycling, and renewable energy use.

The City Center by Lady Lee is expected to generate more than 6,000 jobs and significantly boost the commercial, tourism, and housing sectors in Santo Domingo Este.
