Free zones continue to attract tech companies

The duty free manufacturing sector continues to expand attracting major global clients for assembly of electronics and other high tech components, said Claudia Pellerano, president of the Free Zone Industries Association, during a recent meeting organized by the Minister of Industry & Commerce Victor Bisono to present what’s new in the sector with the attendance of President Luis Abinader.

During the meeting, Bisonó delivered the National Strategy for the Promotion of Semiconductors (Enfis) to the President.

The DR seeks to take the leap to be a regional player in the production of the high tech components for the United States market.

The Free Zone sector at the close of 2024 represented 3.1% of the GDP and has 198,450 formal direct jobs.
