DR1 readers will have to follow up to learn about what the judges have decided in the case against the brother Alexis Medina Sanchez and sister of former President Danilo Medina. The today top two (Yenni Berenice Reynoso and Wilson Camacho) in the Attorney General Office had prepared a humongous file with 21 physical persons and 19 companies charged which then required thousands of hours for deliberations. All this in a country where the Penal Code does not allow for accumulated sentencing.
Alexis Medina Sánchez is the lead accused of bribery, asset laundry and extorsion to win government tenders in more than 20 government entities during the two governments of his brother Danilo Medina (2012-2016 and 2016-2020).
Danilo Medina’s sister Carmen Magalys Medina Sanchez has been accused of “irregularities” in processes from the Fondo Patrimonial de las Empresas Reformadas (Fonper), where she served as vice president.
