Marileidy Paulino breaks 48 seconds in 400m, comes in second in World Athletics Championship

Dominican track star Marileidy Paulino went 47.98 to win the silver medal in the World Athletics Championships 400m in the final on 18 September 2025. USA’s Sydney MacLaughlin-Levrone with her time of 47.78 came close to breaking the 47.60 East German record that has held since 1983. Salwa Eid Naser clocked in at 48.19 for third place.

This was a personal best for Paulino, the Olympic gold medal and record holder. Paulino was the defending champion in the race.
