Senasa allowed for purchasing low quality inputs for surgeries

New findings are coming to the front with complaints about how management decisions under the former general manager of the state health insurance entity, Senasa, would have allowed for the purchase of low quality inputs to be used in surgeries. This resulted in too many persons having to be operated in more than one occasion, Somos Pueblo reports.

The Senasa scandal is regarded as the biggest so far in the Abinader administration. President Luis Abinader replaced the directors at the Senasa and the Superintendence of Health Insurance (Sisalril), but has said he is leaving up to the Attorney General Office to carry the case.

Earlier, the government had defended the management at Senasa arguing that the financial deficit was caused by the entry of two million non-paying affiliates. Now the focus is on the changes in modus of operandi and operations to back private health suppliers that competed with the public hospitals. But the worse of all revealed so far seems to be the allowing of the purchase of low quality inputs for the surgeries.

Diario Libre had reported that the story was leaked by the physicians impacted by insiders in Senasa who were requiring they pay commissions to get paid for their services.
