Telecommunications companies Claro Dominicana and Altice are reminding all their prepaid customers to validate their identity before the 29 September 2025 deadline or risk losing the telephone number. This is in compliance with Resolution 064-2025 from the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel).
This new rule is designed to ensure that every prepaid line is registered to a person with an official ID. This will help prevent the illegal use of mobile services, protect users, and assist authorities in investigations related to crimes committed with mobile devices.
The service of those who do not validate their identity by the deadline will be temporarily suspended for up to two months. If the person fails to complete the process during that time, they will lose the assigned telephone number.
How to validate your number
• Claro: Dial *456# on your phone. If you only have a passport for identification, you must visit a Claro store in person.
• Altice: Visit the website identidadprepago.altice.com.do, call *555, or go to any Altice store.
Claro and Altice, along with the Association of Communication and Technology Companies (COMTEC), have launched a public information campaign to inform people to validate their numbers. They’re using traditional and digital media, including social media, TV, text messages (SMS), and automated calls.
Authorities and companies in the sector emphasize that this validation is a necessary step to strengthen security in telecommunications, reduce fraudulent use of mobile lines, and ensure that services are properly associated with identified individuals.
