DR ranks eighth in Canadian economic freedom index

Canada’s Fraser Institute measured economic freedom once again, and the Dominican Republic placed in the second quarter (47th) on the list of 165 countries indexed.

The Fraser study covers over 160 countries each year, and their Annual Report of World Economic Freedom is a highly respected instrument for judging a nation’s economic health.

The index published in Economic Freedom of the World 2025 measures the degree to which people in 165 jurisdictions around the globe are allowed to make their own economic choices.

The Dominican Republic is ranked eighth in the Americas. The report indicated that the country received the mark because its monetary stability, facilities for foreign investment, and a regulatory environment that was more competitive in comparison with other countries.

Countries in the Americas were ranked: United States (5), Canada (11), Costa Rica (14), Chile (26), Panama (27), Guatemala (28), Jamaica (39), Dominican Republic (47), Peru (51), Uruguay (53), El Salvador (58), Paraguay (60), Honduras (64), Mexico (70), The Bahamas (71), Barbados (78), and Trinidad and Tobago (82), Brazil (87), Nicaragua (92), Ecuador (100), Bolivia (116), Haiti (118), Argentina (159), Venezuela (165).
