Arajet has secured its position as the third-largest airline in the country based on the number of passengers transported during the third quarter of 2025. The airline is based at both Las Americas International and Punta Cana International airports.
According to official figures released by the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), Arajet flew 354,437 passengers between July and September 2025. This impressive performance places the airline ahead of major international carriers like Delta, United, and Copa, and is only surpassed by US giants JetBlue and American Airlines.
The robust growth in Q3 marks Arajet’s most successful quarter in its three years of operation. The JAC data indicates the low-cost carrier was responsible for transporting 7.3% of all passengers entering and leaving the country during this period.
Arajet executives, however, assert that their true reach is even greater. When factoring in over 60,000 international connecting passengers—a segment not fully captured in the JAC’s primary figures—the airline’s total passenger count for the quarter exceeds 400,000. This adjusted total would account for more than 9% of the entire passenger flow through Dominican airports.
The airline attributes this significant leap to several strategic factors, including its entry into the competitive United States market and the expansion of its fleet with the addition of two new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
Arajet’s growth is being powered by strong demand across its international network. The top five routes by passenger volume for the year-to-date are:
• Medellín, Colombia: Over 95,000 passengers
• Bogotá, Colombia: 92,000 passengers
• Mexico City, Mexico: Over 79,000 passengers
• Buenos Aires, Argentina: Nearly 77,000 passengers
• Lima, Peru: 64,000 passengers
Building on this momentum, Arajet is set to continue its aggressive expansion across the Americas:
• October: A new route connecting Punta Cana with Orlando is scheduled to launch.
• November: Direct flights from Santo Domingo to Boston and Punta Cana to Chicago will commence.
• December: Due to exceptional performance and demand in Argentina, Arajet will add new direct flights from Santo Domingo to Buenos Aires and Punta Cana to Córdoba.
Arajet, which was recognized as the Best New Airline in the World in 2023 at the World Aviation Summit, uses a modern, new fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to offer affordable travel across North, Central, and South America, and the Caribbean.
