The Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) announced the launch of a Bloomberg Lab during its successful Business Week 2025: “Leading the Future” event held last week.
The announcement of the Bloomberg Lab was a highlight of the Business Week, which was hosted by the university’s School of Business. This new space is designed to significantly enhance the practical training of students by providing access to Bloomberg’s financial data, analysis tools, and global market information.
With this opening, PUCMM becomes the only university in the Dominican Republic to feature such a dedicated academic facility. The lab directly supports the event’s overall theme of promoting innovation, critical thinking, and preparing young leaders to tackle global challenges with vision and commitment.
Bloomberg Lab is a dedicated classroom or facility at a university or college that provides students and faculty with access to the Bloomberg Terminal and its associated financial data, news, and analytical tools. These labs equip students with hands-on experience in financial markets, data analysis, and investment decision-making, preparing them for careers in the finance industry by bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world application.
The week itself featured a strong focus on innovation, kicked off by a keynote address from Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, who spoke on “Government and Businesses: Allies of Innovation in Competitive Markets.” The Vice President underscored the critical roles of creativity, technology, and personalization in driving competitiveness and innovation
The event also included various conferences and workshops on topics like sustainability, branding, and the application of Artificial Intelligence in financial management.
Reverend Father Dr. Secilio Espinal, Rector of PUCMM, emphasized that the event has become “a strategic platform to promote critical thinking, youth leadership, and the exchange of ideas among students, alumni, academics, and the business sector.”
Throughout the week, the agenda featured a series of conferences, workshops, and panels centered on topics such as innovation, branding, sustainability, and the application of artificial intelligence in financial management.
