
The Abinader administration reports that the Cabo Rojo Pedernales tourism development project is moving forward, with the first hotel expected to open by the end of next year. The Cabo Rojo International Airport is scheduled to be operational starting in mid-2026.
The construction of three hotels is currently underway. Sigmund Freund, executive director of the Pro-Pedernales Trust, provided the following anticipated opening schedule:
Iberostar Hotel: Expected to open in the second half of next year with 588 rooms.
Secrets Hyatt Hotel: Planned to begin operations in the first half of 2027 with 507 rooms.
Dreams Hyatt Hotel: Slated to open in the second half of 2027 with 504 rooms.
Beyond the hotels, the necessary infrastructure is also progressing:
The Cabo Rojo International Airport is anticipated to be functional from mid-2026.
The project already has access roads, as well as electrical power plants and wastewater treatment plants in place.
