
The Corripio Foundation presented the Corripio Foundational Awards 2025, an annual event recognizing and honoring individuals and institutions for their significant contributions to the cultural and social development of the Dominican Republic.
The ceremony, held in the Carlos Piantini Hall of the Eduardo Brito National Theater, recognized four distinguished individuals and one non-profit institution dedicated to providing comprehensive care to children with disabilities.

Dr. Milton Ray Guevara
Award category: Social and Juridical Sciences, Constitutional Law
Background and Recognition: Recognized for his prolific professional and academic career in the constitutional field. He has trained numerous legal disciples, has a distinguished intellectual output, and made significant contributions to the reform processes that led to the National Council of the Magistracy and the 2010 Constitution. He is also honored for his legacy as the first president of the Constitutional Court of the Dominican Republic.
José Jairon Severino Duarte
Award category: Communication, Economic Journalism
Background and Recognition: An economic journalist lauded for his solid foundation in economics and business, his professionalism, and his consistent career in specialized media, where he has been a founding director. He was also recognized for his adaptation and development in the new languages of digital platforms. He is currently the director and founder of El Dinero, a print and digital business media. Previously, he was the economics and business editor for the Listin Diario.
Dr. Jorge Gerardo Marte Báez
Award category: Natural and Health Sciences, Pulmonology
Background and recognition: Honored for his excellent professional practice, which successfully combines clinical excellence with admirable leadership in the formation of new generations of health professionals. For many years he served as medical director for Cedimat in Santo Domingo. Currently, he serves as Dominican ambassador in Argentina.
Edmundo Poy
Award category: Art, Contemporary Dance
Background and recognition: Distinguished as a creator, manager, and promoter of contemporary dance in the country. He has extensive experience as a dancer and choreographer for multiple generations, fostering fruitful collaborations among young dance artists. He is the founder of the Contemporary Dance Encounter Festival, which has showcased notable local performers alongside brilliant international figures.
Comprehensive Care Center for Disability (CAID)
Award Category: Corripio Alonso Family Award (Institutional Award)
Background and recognition: The CAID was honored for providing a high-quality, comprehensive service in evaluation, diagnosis, and therapeutic treatment for children up to twelve years old with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, and cerebral palsy. The award was received by its president, Jorge William Hernández Díaz. The CAID was created during the first term of the government of former President Danilo Medina by the Office of the First Lady Candida Montilla, then wife of former President Danilo Medina.
Each honoree received a commemorative statuette, a recognition diploma, and a financial prize of one million Dominican pesos, acknowledging their contribution to the nation’s social and cultural advancement.
The welcoming remarks were delivered by historian and advisor to the Corripio Foundation, Juan Daniel Balcácer. He highlighted the foundation’s origins in 1986 under the initiative of Manuel Corripio García, and its subsequent leadership by his son, José Luis (Pepín) Corripio, and his family. The Corripio Group groups leading local businesses, including the newspapers Listin Diario, Hoy, El Dia and El Nacional.
Speaking on behalf of the winners, Dr. Ray Guevara praised the valuable work of the Corripio Foundation and urged the nation’s youth to be inspired by the recognition, emphasizing the importance of study, work, and solidarity.
The event was attended by the President of the Corripio Foundation, José Luis Corripio, and other notable figures, including Minister of Culture Roberto Ángel Salcedo.
