Chef Tita lands mention in Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants list

Aguají, the high-end restaurant at Sosua’s The Ocean Club, has been included in the prestigious Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants list. It secured the 88th position on the prestigious list. This is a gastronomic milestone thanks to persevering Chef Tita (Ines Paez Nin).

Diario Libre reports this is a first for a Dominican and Caribbean restaurant.

The Aguají Restaurant was created by Chef Tita for the luxury Marriott-branded hotel.

Aguají is the high-end dining concept at the Ocean Club in Sosua, Puerto Plata. The making of the list is regarded as evidence the Dominican Republic can claim leading status in the highly competitive Latin American and Caribbean gastronomical region. Chef Tita exalts the Dominican identity through its ancestral roots and draws inspiration primarily from the indigenous Taino culture.

Aguají’s entry into the Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants list projects the Dominican Republic toward a high-level segment of global gastronomic tourism. This milestone is expected to attract the attention of discerning travelers, renowned chefs, food critics, and specialized media, all seeking authentic, sustainable, and world-class culinary destinations.

Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants list is operated and published by William Reed, a UK-based media company, as part of its broader “50 Best” brand, which includes The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, relying on votes from a large academy of culinary experts across the continent to determine rankings.

Those listed are determined by the vote of over 300 restaurant industry experts (chefs, food writers, restaurateurs) from specific regions within Latin America.
