President Abinader announces Presidente Beer will bring back its legendary Festival Presidente that some 10 years ago was the leading musical festival in the Caribbean and Central American region. The announcement comes on the heels of the successes of the Bad Bunny concert in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
The Cerveceria Nacional Presidente, the Presidente beer brewery, for years had sponsored the event that gathered the leading Latin music performers for three days in Santo Domingo.
2026 is the year for the return, but no specific date was mentioned. The last time the festival was held was in 2017, marking 20 years of the first concert. The festival was suspended after the beer company had changed ownership and complained that the new taxes on beer sales had reduced sales.
President Luis Abinader made the announcement on Monday, 8 December 2025, during his “La Semanal con la Prensa” briefing at the Presidential Palace. The President framed the festival’s comeback as the revival of a national legacy. President Abinader shared with his audience a promotional video celebrating the event’s significance.
“It is a tradition that will return next year, and since this is the last ‘Semanal’ of the year, we wanted to announce it,” President Abinader stated. “The Festival Presidente had been absent for 10 years, and starting next year, it returns.”
On the same afternoon, the president of Presidente Beer brewery, Fabian Suarez announced the event, saying that it was aligned with their vision to contribute to local development and bring unique experiences for their consumers.
Fabian Suarez stated:
“The return of the Presidente Festival is a tribute to the identity and joy that defines the Dominican people. It returns because we believe in the country, in its talent, in its people, and in its capacity to inspire the world. This festival is a gift for all those who experienced it and for those who have only heard the stories and dream of being part of them, offering new reasons to celebrate and toast together.”
