
Legal advisor to President Luis Abinader, lawyer Antoliano Guzman Peralta announced the names of the five new judges of the Supreme Court of Justice after the National Council of the Magistracy (CNM) met on Friday, 19 December 2025.
The newly selected judges are Edyson Alarcón Polanco, Miguelina Ureña Núñez, Manuel Hernández Victoria, Yorlin Vásquez Castro and Namphi Rodríguez.
The career judges chosen are Alarcón Polanco and Ureña Núñez, who both have served in the Civil and Commercial Chamber of the National District Court of Appeals. Hernández Victoria joins from the Penal Chamber of the same court.
The judges from the external sector are Yorlin Vásquez Castro, who is a specialist in economic and tax law; and Namphi Rodríguez, who is a well-known expert in public law and a practicing newspaper contributor. The selection adheres to the criteria set by Article 180 of the Constitution, which requires a balance between career judges and practicing attorneys.
In addition to these appointments, Nancy Salcedo Fernández, a current member of the High Court and long-standing member of the National Council of the Magistracy, was designated as the Second
Alternate to the president of the Supreme Court.
