In a move described by the Attorney General Office as one to bolster regional security, Attorney General Yeni Berenice Reynoso met with US Ambassador Leah Francis Campos for talks on ways to reinforce the strategic partnership between the Dominican Republic and the United States in the fight against drug trafficking and transnational crime.
The high-level meeting, held at the Attorney General’s Office, focused on ongoing bilateral initiatives designed to dismantle criminal networks and secure the borders of both nations, a press release dated 21 December 2025 from the Attorney General Office highlights.
Attorney General Reynoso emphasized that the collaboration is essential for hemispheric security. She said they discussed:
• Narcotics Interdiction: Streamlining efforts to disrupt drug routes.
• Anti-Money Laundering: Targeting the financial lifelines of organized crime.
• Strategic Intelligence: Maintaining a constant flow of information between agencies.
“We are working on various initiatives within our bilateral framework to strengthen security in our respective countries,” Reynoso stated. She highlighted the vital role of US agencies, including the FBI, the DEA, and the Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), in providing the actionable intelligence that fuels Dominican operations.
Beyond intelligence sharing, the partnership includes significant technical backing. Reynoso noted that the Dominican Republic continues to receive specialized training and access to cutting-edge equipment provided by the US government.
A key highlight of this cooperation is the Joint Task Force Against Organized Crime, a project supported by the INL that integrates the efforts of the Public Ministry and the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD).
“We appreciate Ambassador Campos’s commitment to continue supporting our country through specialized training that allows us to be more effective in our pursuit of justice,” Reynoso added.
The meeting included Deputy Attorney General Wilson Camacho, head of the Public Ministry’s Prosecution Specialization. Ambassador Campos was accompanied by a delegation including Rebecca Marquez, Kaleb Sanderson, and Enrique Corral.
