The Senate granted final approval to the organic law that establishes the National Intelligence Agency (DNI) and regulates the National Intelligence System.
The newly passed bill, which had already cleared the Chamber of Deputies, provides a formal legal framework for state intelligence as mandated by Article 261 of the Constitution. The DNI will serve as the governing body for the nation’s security and intelligence apparatus.
The legislation now heads to the Executive Branch for official enactment.
